How awesome is this cover?

This pic shows the newly revealed cover art for Thirsty Are The Damned: A True Vampire Anthology, the third anthology publication I've gotten in the month of December.

If you like reading about vampires who glitter, brood, or become embroiled in extended bouts of teenage melodrama, this is not a book for you.  Each short story in this book puts a unique take on popular vampire myths--depicting creatures of the night that are cursed, deprived, and downright blood obsessed.

This collection is now available on Amazon.com.  Click HERE to check it out!

On a roll--another anthology publication!!

Everybody harbors dark secrets...and when the truth is revealed, it often has dangerous consequences!

That's the theme behind the horror anthology, Dark Secrets, published by Static Movement.

This collection features my short story, "Home to Meet Mother" -- coincidentally, this was the first short story I ever wrote [back in December of '09], so it is personally exciting [and gratifying] to see it in print.

Dark Secrets can be ordered via Amazon.com as well as through the Pill Hell Press bookstore.

Three anthology publications this month...I'm on a ROLL!

My flash fiction short story "Irreconcilable Differences" has been published...

...by Flashes In The Dark, a website that features a new horror-themed flash fiction story every day.

Flash fiction differs from more traditional short stories in that flash pieces have strict word count limitations [usually 1,000 words or less, but sometimes as small as 500 or fewer words] specified by the publication venue.

As coincidence would have it, "Irreconcilable Differences" is exactly 666 words long.

Click HERE to access the short story on the Flashes In The Dark website!

Looking for a superb scary movie to see in the theater?

As a horror aficionado, I don't frighten easily when it comes to horror films, but Paranormal Activity 3 exceeded my expectations and delivered some major league scares.

This installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise  depicts Katie and Kristie [the two adult sisters from the first two films] as children at the time when the haunting first begins to manifest.

Great suspense throughout, and the film uses some innovative filming tricks / devices to help build tension.

Wow...

I'm pleased to announce that my short story, Meat, has been accepted for inclusion in the anthology, Thirsty Are The Damned: A True Vampire Anthology, published by Rainstorm Press

Meat offers a ghoulish, startling deviation from popular vampire themes in contemporary movies and literature.

This anthology should hit the presses fairly soon, so stay tuned for more details...

Just put the finishing touches on my latest story...

...entitled, "Affairs in Order" -- a character driven tale that puts a new spin on the cause of the zombie apocalypse.

Very pleased with how this story turned out--I'm going to set it aside for a few days before putting it through the editorial process.  Then, I'll need to decide between a couple of promising ideas I have for which short story to begin working on next!

Movie recommendation: "Insidious"

For all of you horror fans out there, I watched the movie, "Insidious" last night.  Very, very creepy.

Think: "Orphan" meets "Case 39" meets "Paranormal Activity" meets "Drag Me To Hell."

I watch a lot of horror movies, and sadly I'm perpetually disappointed by predictable tropes and an over-reliance on blood-and-guts and quick scares to make up for lack of plot.  When I come across something that is a fresh idea or puts a new spin on classic horror, it makes me pay attention.

I won't pass along any spoilers, but I will say that "Insidious" scared me--and that doesn't happen very often.  I'd characterize it is a good not great horror flick--but one that is well worth watching!

Just finished my latest short story...

...tentatively entitled, "Food For Worms."  And no--this is not a zombie story!

I'm going to let it sit for a day or two before I begin editing--then it'll be time to get to work on my next story, for which the working title is currently, "Affairs in Order."  And yes--this will be a zombie story, but with a unique spin on the cause for the zombie apocalypse.

Stay tuned--more to come on both stories...
